Alexey Petrovich Bogolyubov [Алексей Петрович Боголюбов] (Померанье, 16 de març de 1824 - Paris, 3 de febrer de 1896) va ser un pintor rus. Net d'Alexander Radishchev i fill de Pyotr Gavriilovich Bogolyubov, es va formar inicialment en una escola militar abans de servir a l'armada naval russa. El 1849 va entrar a l'Acadèmia Imperial de les Arts de Sant Petersburg on va estudiar amb Maxim Vorobiev i on va conèixer i rebre la influència de l'obra del pintor Ivan Ayvazovsky. El 1853, i després de la seva graduació amb medalla d'or inclosa, va assolir un càrrec de pintor al servei de l'armada naval. Gràcies aquest càrrec, entre els anys 1854 i 1860 va viatjar per Europa realitzant nombrosos paisatges dels llocs que va visitar. A Roma va fer amistat amb Alexander Ivanov i posteriorment a Düsseldorf va estudiar amb Andreas Achenbach. Més tard, es va instal·lar breument a París on va col·laborar amb Camille Corot i Charles-François Daubigny. El 1860 va tornar a Rússia on va exhibir les seves obres i on va ser nomenat professor. El 1871 va ser nomenat membre de l'Acadèmia Imperial de les Arts de Sant Petersburg. En una data posterior al 1873 es va instal·lar definitivament a París, ciutat on va rebre visites d'artistes russos com Ivan Turgenev o Ilya Yefimovich Repin. El 1885 va inaugurar el Museu d'Art Radischev en honor al seu avi. Alexey Petrovich Bogolyubov va viure els darrers anys a Paris, morint en aquesta ciutat el febrer de 1896.
Parlem de Música...
Anton (Antony) Stepanovich Arensky [Анто́н (Анто́ний) Степа́нович Аре́нский] (Novgorod, 12 de juliol de 1861 - Terioki, 25 de febrer de 1906) va ser un pianista, professor, director i compositor rus. Es va formar amb Yuli Johanssen i Rimsky-Korsakov en el Conservatori de Sant Petersburg. A partir del 1882, i fins el 1895, va treballar com a professor de composició i teoria musical al Conservatori de Moscou, ciutat on també va assumir la direcció de la Societat Coral Russa. El 1895 va assolir el càrrec de director del Cor de la Capella Imperial de la Cort Russa a Sant Petersburg en un càrrec que va preservar fins el 1901, any que va ser nomenat professor en el Conservatori de Sant Petersburg. També durant aquell període va realitzar nombroses gires concertants, especialment com a pianista i director orquestral. Com a compositor, va ser autor d'obra diversa però va ser conegut especialment per les variacions sobre un tema de Tchaikovsky i per la seva obra de piano. Els darrers anys va patir tuberculosis i alcoholisme motiu pel qual va ser internat en un sanatori proper a la localitat de Terioki, on hi va morir el febrer de 1906.
